Brandbuzz - #BbMommas Hand in Hand in the Midst of Covid-19

How can we really Help?
That's one thing that comes to in our mind. You just cant help but to sigh!
but realizing.. Simple Gestures makes the biggest impact!
This Touch Everyone's heart.

A mom’s search for a homeless, hungry lolo turns into a huge feeding program.
When a community of mommy bloggers came together to feed disadvantaged families in Tondo, little did they know that their project would turn into a huge food assistance program for hundreds of frontliners fighting COVID-19.

The Photo that Started It All
It was the first week of ECQ when Clara Alegria “Gie” Ramos, a PR and influencer management professional and founder of BrandBuzz PH, saw a video of an elderly man who said, “mauuna pa kami mamatay sa gutom bago kami mamatay sa virus.”

That image prompted Gie to send a message to her community of mommy bloggers, asking for any leads on how to help him. Eventually they found out that the man was originally staying at Roxas Boulevard and moved to the Delpan Evacuation Center in Tondo along with many informal settlers.

“I asked the moms if we can contribute P500 each so that we can feed the families at Delpan.
Hindi madaling maglabas ng pera ngayon, pero maraming tumulong,” said Gie.
With the P18,000 they initially raised, the real work began.

JM, a single mother, told Gie, “I can’t contribute financially, but I can help with logistics.”
JM volunteered her home as a storage and dispatch center, coordinating with suppliers, cooks, and delivery riders.
When the blogger community received the photos of the grateful lolos and lolas eating the meals they sent, they were deeply moved. They felt that they needed to – and Can DO – more.

A Bigger Goal
Two of the bloggers who are nurses suggested to help medical frontliners, too. Gie sent out another call for donations, and this time more volunteers responded, as well as corporations. CDO partnered with BrandBuzz PH by donating food products, enabling the moms to cook home-style meals for many frontliners who are far from their families.

“There are about 5 of us volunteers who cook 50 meals each per day,” explained Krisha, a mom of two. “Then we distribute them to different government hospitals. With the project getting bigger, we needed all the help we can get, and CDO was one of the companies who answered the call. We would send pasta dishes topped with Danes cheese, and rice meals with CDO Funtastyk tocino – gustong-gusto ng frontliners ‘yun!”

Roadblocks and Rewards
With many restrictions under ECQ, there were challenges in the sourcing of ingredients and delivery. But the biggest challenge for the volunteers was physical and emotional exhaustion. Gie shared, “Pinagsasabay mo yung work from home, household chores, homeschooling, at yung feeding progam na full-time din. When my kids told me, you’re here but you don’t talk to us, I realized I was sacrificing my time with my family. But so were the frontliners, that’s why I can’t stop. But things got better once we figured out a system.”

“And when the doctors and nurses send their photos enjoying the food, seeing their joy and reading their messages make everything worth it. Nakaka-inspire,” mused Krisha.

For JM, her 7-year-old daughter also inspires her to keep going. “When I see her writing notes to the frontliners and praying for them nang hindi ko inuutusan – I know we are doing something right.”

What Collaboration Can DO
These moms attribute the success of the project to their supportive blogger community and corporate partners. To date, the group has raised over P1Million worth of donations. With over 50 volunteer cooks and growing, they plan to feed underprivileged families as well.
“The task is much bigger, but with steady partners like CDO who are committed to working with volunteers like us in feeding our brave frontliners, we Can DO this,” said Gie.

Even in the darkest times, with the influence of compassionate individuals and the support of caring communities and companies, there is so much we Can DO together to make the world brighter.

Experts say handwashing with soap and water is still the best way to prevent COVID-19

While the search continues for a cure for COVID-19, the best way anyone can do at the moment is to prevent it.

The Department of Health is one with the World Health Organization and the USA’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention in saying that the best way to prevent COVID-19 from spreading is to kill the novel coronavirus before it enters the body.

COVID-19 is contracted when the novel coronavirus enters the body. Respiratory viruses like the novel
coronavirus, the flu, and the common cold can be spread via the hands. An infected person’s hands can touch some mucus, viral particles will stick to the hands and then transfer to whatever they touch. If someone is well, hands act like sticky traps for viruses and can pick up droplets that contain the novel coronavirus, which stay on the hands, and enter the body if the hands touch the face.
To ensure that this does not happen, experts recommend that everyone must wash their hands thoroughly. They say that handwashing with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, is still the top method to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and other diseases.

Hygienix fully supports the fight against COVID-19. Its frontline weapon: the Hygienix Germicidal Soap which kills 99.99% of viruses, germs and common disease-causing bacteria.  Washing the hands with Hygienix Germicidal Soap and water destroys viruses by pulling them apart, disintegrating them and flushing them down the drain.

Another benefit for using Hygienix Germicidal Soap is that it has a non-drying formula and a refreshing scent. That means you can use it as frequently as possible, make it an essential, and an enjoyable part of your daily lifestyle!

By keeping sanitized with Hygienix Germicidal Soap– along with other measures like drinking vitamins, wearing face masks, staying home and observing social distancing, the war against COVID-19 could soon be won.

*Splash, the makers of Hygienix, knows fully well the crucial role it plays, especially during this time of COVID-19. They assure the public that they are working round the clock to keep up with the higher demand so that their soap and alcohol products will be continuously available in the market.

Easy Bitso-Bitso | #MajLife2020

It's Day 19 of #EnhancedCommunityQuarantine
Stucked, Bored.??

But this won't get you Bored.. Instead it will make you want MORE!!

Today's Merienda we have.
And since we still have Malagkit (Glutinous Rice Flour) that mama brought us from the province.. Bitso-Bitso came in my mind.
This is an Ilonggo kakanin made from Malagkit, brown sugar, baking powder and a pinch of salt. This is one of my Favorite Snack way back Home. With it's crisp and sweet in the outside from the caramelized sugar and chewy inside that I so missed.

So here's a quick on How to Make this Delicious Snacks just Made with just 3 Main Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup glutinous rice flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup water
Pinch of Salt
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
Cooking oil

Let's Start to make it:
In a bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, salt and baking powder.
Add water and mix until well combined and those dough like Will no longer sticky and just enough to make it.
Adjust water if needed, depending on the quality of the flour that you use.

When it's ready, time to Roll on a flat surface, start to roll or shape in any you like. I like mine to Simple.
We just Make one Long Line like a Finger Bread Shape.

In a deep pan, heat over medium-low heat and add cooking oil.
Fry Shaped dough until it starts to float for about 3 minutes or Golden Brown.
(don't Fry too much)
Remove and drain excess oil then set aside.

Let's Move to Caramelized (my favorite part) In a clean sauce pan, add brown sugar in the same pan with oil or you may also use Water. Anything you like will do both.

Cook over low heat, stirring continuously until mixture starts to caramelized.
Dip each fried dough into caramelized sugar, making sure each fried dough is fully coated.
Transfer in a plate, you may allow to cool making sure they are not sticking to each other.
Serve and enjoy!

I would love to hear your Favorite Snacks too. Or Have you tried making Bitso Bitso at Home?
Comment down below.

And Please let's also Pray that this #Covid19 will end.
